ShekinahToday 21.11.2012 On Friday, 16th of November the Christian Convert Farhan Haji Mose has been killed by Islamic extremists belonging the rebel Al-Shabaab militants. The cruel incident which was executed by beheading the 25 year old Mose took place in the City of Barawa at Somalia’s coast.
Mose was accused of being a spy and leaving Islam. He drew suspicion when he returned after a long stay in Kenya.
Kenya’s population is nearly 83 percent Christian, according to Operation World, while Somalia’s is close to 100 percent Muslim.
Underground Christians told the Morning Star News (http://morningstarnews.org/) the extremists started monitoring Mose after his return from Kenya.
On Friday morning a crowd assembled to watch the brutish murder of Mose. Morning Star News quotes its Christian sources with “His body was split into two, then carried away, only to be dumped near the beach of Barawa city,”
The scene has been described same independently by several other Muslim witnesses. Muslims and Christians stated that Moses got accused of being a spy for foreigners and of embracing the “foreign religion of Christianity.”
Farhan Haji Mose’s family was afraid to recover the body immediately since they might have been considered by the Al-Shabaab militants as guilty by association. His body was later found by a local fisherman.
Mose had a small cosmetics shop in in Barawa and had travelled to Kenya on business last year. Mose studied in Kenya as well and converted to Christianity while his stay in 2010.
The city of Barawa is in full control of the Al Shabaab rebels who fight against the government and who embarked on a campaign to rid Somalia of Christianity. The extremist group variously estimated to have 3.000 to 7.000 members aims on imposing a stricter version of sharia (Islamic law) on Somalia.
Dozens of Christian converts from Islam have been killed since Al Shabaab launched their campaign of cleaning Somalia of Christianity in 2009.
Al Shabaab was one of several splinter groups that arose after Ethiopian forces toppled the Islamic Courts Union from power in Somalia in 2006. It is listed by the USA as a terrorist organization.
The transitional government in Mogadishu proclaims itself moderate, but it too has embraced a version of sharia that mandates the death penalty for those who leave Islam.
